BluPlanet Recycling is a leader in sustainability. It has always been part of our mission to maintain a triple bottom line where our contributions to the community and environment are as important as our economic gains.
Besides the environmental and social impacts realized from our core recycling and compostable organic waste diversion services, we supplement these activities with a number of social initiatives.

Environmental Impact Disclosure
BluPlanet Recycling acknowledges that the transportation and recycling industries are water- and energy-intensive sectors. Certain parts of our value chain—particularly the transport and processing of recyclable materials—are significant sources of greenhouse gas emissions and water consumption. We recognize these impacts and make concerted efforts to work with service partners who actively reduce their environmental footprint, improve energy efficiency, and minimize water use throughout their operations.
BluPlanet's 2023 Charitable Partner: Momentum
BluPlanet donates a portion of revenue to local charitable organizations. In 2023, Momentum will receive a donation of $40,500.00. Did you know Momentum contributed $273,000.00 to their Matched Savings programs last year? This program matches funds for Calgarians living on a low income on a 3:1 and 4:1 ratio that can be used for Education & RESP contributions, tools for work, & housing.

REAP
BluPlanet Recycling has been a member of the Respect for Earth and All People (REAP) network since 2011. Our highlights with this organization include receiving the Empowering Communities Award in 2014 and 2015 as well as the B-Corporation Leader in 2017.
Benefit-Corporation
BluPlanet Recycling has been a certified Benefit Corporation (B-Corp) since 2011. B-Corp maintains one of the highest standards for social and environmental sustainability in the world. In 2013, 2014, 2017, 2018, and 2019, we were named on the B-Corp Best For The World list.
COR
BluPlanet Recycling maintains a Certificate of Recognition (COR) through maintaining and continuously developing health and safety programs in the workplace.
Green Calgary
Green Calgary has verified that BluPlanet Recycling transports and distributes all the recyclable materials responsibly to the correct processors and keeps them out of the landfill.
United Nations
BluPlanet Recycling is a Caring for Climate endorser and signatory, which is part of the UN's Initiative for Business Leadership on Climate Change.

Powered with 100% green electricity and 100% green natural gas from Bullfrog Power, BluPlanet Recycling leads the way in sustainable practices.
Charitable Giving
BluPlanet Recycling donates a portion of revenue to local charitable organizations. Thanks to our customers we have raised raise tens of thousands of dollars for multiple charities in our community.
Carbon Zero
By voluntarily purchasing carbon offsets for all of the company's CO2 output from Carbon Zero, BluPlanet Recycling is a carbon neutral company.

BluPlanet Recycling has been a Vibrant Communities Calgary Living Wage Leader since 2011, supporting all staff with a minimum of a living wage.
Recycling Council of Alberta
BluPlanet Recycling is a member of the Recycling Council of Alberta and won the Recycling Council of Alberta Award of Excellent for Waste Diversion Services.
Vecova
BluPlanet Recycling has organized Vecova to collect bottles at a number of our sites. Revenue from these bottles goes towards supporting Vecova, an organization that has been meeting the lifelong and changing needs of persons of all abilities and the community since 1969.
Earth Rangers
BluPlanet Recycling helped plan and execute the Earth Rangers: Bring Back the Wild initiative to educate youth on how they can support a greener future.
